Design
Working with discarded fabric means working with what's already there — a print that's slightly off-register, a colour that's faded unevenly, a piece too small to use whole. Rather than correcting for these, our design process starts from them. Patterns are cut around flaws instead of avoiding them, and pieces are pieced together from fabric that wouldn't have survived a standard cutting table. The result is a collection where no two pieces are identical by intention, not by accident.
Planet
Fabric is resource-heavy long before it reaches us. Working from discarded material means we're not adding to that demand — we're extending its life rather than asking the planet for more. What processing we do happens in the same facility where the fabric is sourced, cut, and stitched, keeping that distance as short as possible, reducing our carbon footprint.
Community
None of this works without the people who make it possible. Cee Jay operates out of a facility that's been part of Jaipur's textile industry for over four decades, the same hands that print, cut, and stitch every piece are ones we know personally, in conditions we've seen firsthand rather than audited from a distance.
