Salvaged from the floors of Rajasthan's block-printing workshops, aachara is a textile shaped by layers of colour, irregular markings, and traces of human hands.
This season, we work with what remains: reconstructing each piece around the fabric's existing surface, allowing its history to define the final garment.

Our basket-weaved tank is made from leftover cotton strips, woven together in a traditional basket-weave technique and cut into shape-minimising fabric waste.

What is Cee Jay?
Ceejay is an Indian streetwear label from Jaipur. We pair Indian prints with western silhouettes, and every garment is made from upcycled Achara cotton.
What is Aachara fabric?
Achara is the cotton cloth laid under block-printing tables in Jaipur. Over about 100 printing runs it soaks up dye tests, colour marks and printers' fingerprints, and then it's usually thrown away. Ceejay rescues it and turns it into clothing.
Is every Cee Jay piece unique?
Yes. No two pieces of Achara carry the same marks, so every Ceejay garment is one of a kind. When a piece sells, it's gone.
Will my piece look exactly like the photos?
You get what you see: each listing is a single one-of-a-kind piece. Small details like stains or markings can look slightly different in person, and colours can vary from screen to screen.
How does Cee Jay sizing work?
Sizes vary by piece, so check the size and fit listed on each product. Our pieces run slightly bigger than usual, made to be worn oversized. Read the product description carefully to find what suits you.
Will the marks and prints fade?
The fabric is treated with a fixer, so the marks and prints are made to stay. Follow the wash care instructions attached to every garment and they should not fade, and the piece will last you for years if cared for properly.
Are prices inclusive of GST?
Yes. All prices on the Cee Jay website are in INR and include GST.
